Using a seed feeder will
dramatically increase the number and variety of birds attracted
into your garden. Many of the birds found in New Zealand thrive on a seed diet and these seed feeders are a really good method of providing them with a continuous stream of fresh seed. Birds need to feel safe when feeding so site your feeder to allow the birds to have an all-round view of any predators sneaking up while they are feeding and ideally not more than 1.8m from convenient cover such as trees or shrubs. Remember, it can sometimes take several weeks for birds to have the confidence to start visiting a new feeder, but be careful not to let the food go stale. Once one bird finds a feeder, it will remember the location and will attract the attention of other birds in the area, while it is feeding.
